Sunday, October 1, 2023 | When the Church Prays | This One is On You
Paula Dannielle   -

In the seventh installment of the “When the Church Prays” sermon series, we had the privilege of welcoming guest speaker Paula Dannielle to the pulpit. Her message, titled “This One is On You,” was inspired by the prayer of Jabez found in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10, where Jabez calls out to God for blessings, guidance, protection, and ultimately restoration.

Drawing from this powerful prayer, Paula Dannielle emphasizes the importance of seeking God’s blessing in our lives. Using Jabez’s example, she encourages the congregation to call upon the God of Israel for His divine favor and blessings.

The sermon breaks down Jabez’s prayer into distinct aspects, highlighting how he called out for God to bless him, direct him, protect him, and ultimately restore him. Each element represents a significant component of our relationship with God and our reliance on His grace.

Paula Dannielle reinforces the belief that, like Jabez, we can call upon the names of God, recognizing His various attributes, such as El Olam (the eternal God), Yahweh (the Lord), El Shaddai (Almighty), and more. Through these names, we can draw closer to God and approach Him with confidence.

The heart of the message centers on acknowledging that certain situations in our lives are beyond our control, and we must rely on God’s intervention. By calling upon the name Elohim (God), we express our trust in God’s ability to handle the impossible, just as Jabez did.

In closing, Paula Dannielle underscores the importance of entrusting our challenges and difficulties to God, recognizing that He is the God of all creation and the One who can grant our requests. The congregation is left with a powerful message of faith, encouraging them to call upon God and trust Him to handle the impossible situations in their lives.

The sermon serves as a reminder that, in moments of uncertainty and difficulty, we can echo Jabez’s prayer and say, “This one is on You, Lord,” trusting in God’s sovereignty and grace to lead us to blessings, guidance, protection, and restoration.
