LIVING WITH POWER
TFH is Word and Spirit Church. That means we are committed to the functional authority of the bible and to the effective, Christ-exalting operation of Holy Spirit and all the Spiritual Gifts listed in the Bible.

1. DO WE HAVE GOOD BIBLICAL REASONS TO BELIEVE THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ARE STILL VALID FOR TODAY?

2. IS THERE A DIFFERENCE IN THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE BAPTISM IN/WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT?

• BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT REFERS TO HOLY SPIRIT BAPTIZING US INTO THE BODY OF CHRIST (REFERS TO CONVERSION)

For by one Spirit we all were immersed and mingled into one single body. And no matter our status – whether we are Jews or non-Jews, oppressed or free – we are all privileged to drink deeply of the same Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:13 (TPT)

• BAPTISM WITH/IN THE HOLY SPIRIT – BAPTIZED BY JESUS.

“I baptize with water those who repent of their sins and turn to God. But someone is coming soon who is greater than I am – so much greater that I’m not worthy even to be his slave and carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Matthew 3:11 (NLT)

Pattern: saved, water baptism, spirit empowerment

3. CAN I EXPECT TO SPEAK IN TONGUES WHEN I AM BAPTIZED IN/WITH HOLY SPIRIT?

4. WHAT DOES PAUL SAY IS THE PURPOSE OF OUR SPIRITUAL PRAYER LANGUAGE?

5. ARE TONGUES TO BE USED IN ONE’S PRIVATE DEVOTIONAL PRAYER LIFE?

18 I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all; 19 yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue. 1 Corinthians 14:18-19 (NKJV)

HOW DO I RECEIVE THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT? 1. BY FAITHFUL EXPECTATION IN JESUS CHRIST

Acts 2:36-39 – “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off – for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

2. BY OBEDIENCE TO JESUS CHRIST

3. BY ASKING THROUGH PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I am a believer. I am Your child and You are my Father. Jesus is my Lord. I believe with all my heart that Your Word is true.

Your Word says if I will ask, I will receive the Holy Spirit. So in the Name of Jesus Christ, my Lord, I am asking You to fill me to overflowing with Your precious Holy Spirit. Jesus, baptize me in the Holy Spirit.

Because of Your Word, I believe that I now receive and I thank You for it. I believe the Holy Spirit is within me and, by faith, I accept it.

Now, Holy Spirit, rise up within me as I praise God. I fully expect to speak with other tongues, as You give me the utterance.
